My interview by Turbo

Howrrroooo Everypup (& Wilbur),
Our friend Turbo the Sibe has been conducting interviews, and graciouslessy volunteered to interview ME! So, without further ado, here is my interview with Tubey! His questions will be in Bold:

1) Why are humans so stupid?

Wow, I really had to think about this one, there are so many possible answers, but I think it's 'cause they only walk on 2-legs. This causes their noses to be WAY to far from the ground. They're already nose-dead, then they put their noses way up there in the air....how can they learn anything if they can't smell, and don't follow proper sniffing techniques? I mean really, did you read the recent posts on Sitka & AO4's pages? Most humans don't even know those spots on our beawootiful tails are for sniffing! Honestly! What did they think they were there for? And when was the last time you ever saw a human sniffing for news?

Mikki's snooter spot

Chili's snooter spot

Can you see Cracker's snooter spot?

Yup, yup, there's my snooter spot! (kinda faint, but it's there!)
2) What's the best food item you've stolen from your humans?
This one was easy! A couple of weeks ago dad had a pork loin marinating on the counter while waiting for the grill to reach the perfect smolder, it was YUMMY, but I only got a little taste before they caught me and took it away....

3) Do you have a story about a time you or your canine room mates made your humans freak out?

The rest of the pack have lots of these stories, but I'm not gonna steal theirs in case somehusky else decides to interview them. I don't really have any myself yet, maybe cause the rest of them have taught mom & dad too many lessons, so they usually keep a really close eye on me. Chili said I can tell you about Granddog Ice's hole-in-the-head incident. Right after mom & dad moved into our current den, in 2003, Ice got a new lump on his face. He had previously had some removed, so mom & dad thought this would be pretty routine, even though the lump was right between his eyes, and growing really fast. He had to spend the night at the V.E.T after the surgery cause the doc said the tumor was really deep. He came home on Friday with a zipper on his face! Honestly it was staples, but it looked like you could unzip his face. He had to keep the staples in for a week, so the following Friday he went back to the V.E.T. to have the staples removed. Our Boogieboy came over that night to spend the weekend, and he was supposed to go somewhere with mom & dad on Saturday. (mom can't remember where they were going). He was out in the yard visiting Starr & Ice while mom & dad were getting ready to go, then he ran in the house and asked mom "Why does Ice have a hole in his head?" Mom shrieked "What do you mean he has a hole in his head?" and ran out to check on Ice. Sure enough, he had a really deep hole in his forehead, right between his eyes, where the staples had come out the day before. Of course, it was after noon on a Saturday, so our regular vet was closed, so off to the emergency animal hospital they went. The emergency vet put 4 stitches inside the hole, then 6 more outside, she said the hole from his surgery was so deep that even though the staples held the skin together, the hole underneath was still there and all he had to do was bump or scratch it to break the skin and open it back up. Needless to say, they never made it wherever they were supposed to be going, spent the whole afternoon in the ER instead.....

4) Are there actually elephants in Alabama with loose tusks?
Huh??? What kinda question is that???

Oh, mom just 'splained it to me, howrooorooroo, you're one funny pup, Turbo!

Tuscaloosa, that's a good one! Since I'm from Mobile, and never been to Tuscaloosa, I'm not sure, but I'll go ask Dad, he's from AlaBAMA too.

Ok, I'm back. Dad said AlaBAMA has a football team that has an elephant as a mascot, and there are lots of people in AlaBAMA that have red necks and no teeth, so..... by my amazing powers of deduction, I assume that AlaBAMA has a shortage of good dentists, therefore it follows that the elephant population of AlaBAMA probably find it extremely difficult to obtain proper dental care and a significant number of them probably DO have loose tusks (which is, I'm sure, where the town got it's name, unless it has something to do with the wild boar population, but I'd hate to boar you with my thoughts on that subject, howroorooroo) . Roll Tide!
5.) What's your greatest destruction success?
Oh Tubey, this is my FAVORITE question! My mom has this really cool, hand carved, silk covered, mahogany chaise lounge that sits at the foot of our bed. It used to have this really cool (and tasty) carved swan neck & head that curved up above the rest of the back of the chaise. I say used to because somehusky managed to use it as a teething device and turned the beawootiful swan into a headless stumpbird. I'm not admitting to it even though it did survive the teething efforts of the rest of the pack. Who's to say one of them didn't suddenly revert to their puppyhood, huh? Nobody caught me redtoothed did they? Innocent until proven guilty! Does this look like somehusky who would eat furniture? (Ignore the hole in the seat, that was Mikki, I swear!)

Thanks for the interview, Turbo! That was fun!!

The rules as spelled out on Turbo's page.....

Here's the rules if you want me to interview you:
1. If you are interested in being interviewed, leave me a comment saying, 'interview me.'
2. I will respond by posting five questions for you. I get to pick the questions.

3. You will update your blog with a post containing your answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.

5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

So......everypup (& Wilbur), who wants to be interviewed? And which of us would you like to do the interviewing?

Manykisses,
Bama & the River Hill Pack

Most recent picture of ME!

I finally tortured the humom's guilt into posting a new picture of me that shows how much I've grown and how beautiful I'm becoming (if you can get past the "rabbit ears"). Mom calls me her long-legged, brown-eyed platinum blonde runway model. She says I even have the swayee hip thing going for me, whatever that means...anywooo, here it is, course it's a month old now, so I've even grown quite a bit since this.....

Mik went to the vet yesterday for her yearly's and she's up to 49 lbs! She's trying to keep up with me, but that's not good, I'm gonna be 4 ft. taller than her! The vet told dad they have to cut back on her food, she's eating too good and gettin a pooch. (not to be confused with pups! whooohooo)

Tagged by Guiness & Shiloh (and a new tag game)

Howroooroooroo Everypup! (& Wilbur)
The humom finally got back home on Thursday nite, we gave her a day of rest but then I had to threaten her with multiple applications of the claw if she didn't get on the 'puter and catch up with all our friends! At least she came bearing gifts, we each got a cool new woodlands stuffy that look and sound like the real critters, a big rawhide braided chew and a smaller pigskin chew, and she got us this weird hairy lookin plastic wiggle ball that she said looked like fun, but not one of us has the least bit of interest in it! That's okay though, at least she remembered to bring us back presents from her trip. The first couple of days after she left Cracker was all pouty, and didn't want to eat or play or anything, but then dad started putting her on his speaker phone so we could all talk to her every night, and he was okay after that (course, dad had to wipe all our slobber off his phone after every call, hawroorooroo). One night we even serenaded her on the phone, she said our singing was beawootiful. Well....DUH!
When she got home we had a package from Harnessed to Hope, our treat cookbook is here! Yippee!! We can't wait to start trying some of the yummy recipe's, specially the freezer treats since it's still pretty hot here in Florida. Mikki & I both think that the pics of Mud Monster and DWB on the cover are CUTE, too, though the boys are jealous nobody asked them to pose!
We've been tagged back by Guiness and Shiloh to list all the nicknames we have for our humans, so here go's, mom first:
Bedhog (mom says she has to sleep in one corner in the fetal position cause we take up too much room, she COULD just sleep on the floor!)
Treat Dispenser
Worlds second best hunter
Keeper of OUR car keys
Kong Stuffer
Doorwoman
Breakfast Glop Chef
Puddle Soaker Upper (I still have occasional accidents if she doesn't perform her doorwoman duties in a timely manner, I try to give her at least 3 seconds warning)
The NONONO shouter
Squooshy mattress (or pillow)
The dreaded BATH monster
Master Plucker (can everyhusky say coat-blowing season?)
Chauffer
Human Calendar & appointment scheduler
Sneaky Medicine Woman
Dirty Face (I hold her down with a front paw on each shoulder and thoroughly wash her face every morning before she's allowed out of bed)
My Favorite Lap
Favorite Chewtoy

Since they share a lot of the slave duties in caring for us, there is some overlap, but here are Dad's nicknames:
Bedhog & snoremaster
Treat Dispenser
Worlds best Hunter
Chauffer & keeper of our other car keys
Doorman
Dinner Chef
"NO, Go OUTSIDE", shouter
It's 5AM, we need out!!
Sneaky Medicine Man
Bedbugs under the sheet gamepartner (we all love doing the "arctic fox dive" to kill the cooties wiggling under the sheet, otherwise known as dad's fingers)
Most clawed human
Mister Manners
Gimme the FOOD!
Hey Mister, what's it take to get some water in our dispenser?

While mom was gone we didn't have much to do during the day while dad was at work except think about all our new friends, and all the fun games we've been tagged to play, so we came up with a fun new tag game for all our doggieblogger buddies to play. As we've joined the pack, each of us has gotten a "theme" song. I think we mentioned this in a previous post, maybe, but here are our songs:

Chili: sung to the tune of "I'm a little teapot"

I'm a little Chilidog
Short and stout
Here is my tail
And here is my snout.
When I get all steamed up
Here me shout
I'm a Red Hot Chili Pepper
Better watch out!
(ok, this one's a little corny, but it was the humoms first & last attempt at writing lyrics, and the Boogieboy liked it....)

Cracker:
CrackerJack by Dolly Parton

CrackerJack, Best friend I ever had was
CrackerJack, but he was more than that,
a playmate, a companion, he was love & understanding
CrackerJack, best friend I ever had was
CrackerJack, but he was more than that,
Everything a kid could want,
I had in CrackerJack.

Mikki:
Mickey, you're so fine by Toni Basil....

Oh Mikki you're so fine, you're so fine
You blow my mind, Hey Mikki, Hey Mikki
(repeat endlessly, then some more....)

Bama:
Black Betty by RamJam....

Oh Black Betty, BamaLamb
Oh Black Betty, BamaLamb
Black Betty had a child, BamaLamb
The damb thing gone wild, BamaLamb
She said I'm worryin outta my mind, BamaLamb

Starr & Ice had a combined Tune for the two of them:
Starry Night by Don McLean (with a little liberty with the lyrics, sorry Don)

Starry, Starr 'n Ice
Paint your palettes blue and grey,
Look out on a summer's day,
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul.
Shadows on the hills,
Sketch the trees and the daffodils,
Catch the breeze and the winter chills,
In colors on the snowy linen land.

Ok, everypup, Mom says I've worn her fingers out enough for one day, but she's proud of us, she says we're a very eclectic pack, (whatever that means) and I do want her to check all my friends blogs and catch up on all the pupnews and doins....
We tag Army of 4, Holly, The Mullins Clan & the Kapp Pack. What is your song? If you don't already have one, try to think of one that fits your name or personality, or if possible, BOTH!

Husky Hugs and Manykisses,
Bama & the River Hill Pack

Tagged by Pippa

Howrooo Everyhusky & other Pupfriends,
We've been tagged by Pippa for a new game, we have to come up with the type of car we would be, if we were cars. This was easy for Chili & I, but Cracker and Mikki had to put some thought into their answers. We're going to answer this one in reverse age order, so I get to go first! (of course, it is MY blog, MIKKI!)

Bama- If I was a car I would be a Hummer, first cause I'm HUGE, and getting HUGER every day! Also I'm deceptively powerful, and I'm the protector of my pack, just like a Hummer would protect us on the road.

Mikki says she would be a Bentley Arnage GT (dad had to help her with this one, he's the car guy) cause she's elegant, classy, and quiet.

Cracker says of course he would be a red Ferrari, fast, powerful, sleek & sexy & LOUD. Oh yeah, and red....

Chili's pouting cause we all decided he would be a Volkswagon beetle, short, round and growly.

We tag Amici, Turbo, and the Mullins Clan (wink, wink, Juneau!)

As for Mikki's last post:
Are NOT!
Mikki: AM TOO!
ARE NOT! And don't make me bite you! I'm bigger than you now, I could just sit on you to prove my point!
Mikki: You'd have to catch me first!
No, I'd just lay in wait, and pounce when you least expect it.
Mikki: Hey Doofus, you just warned me, now I'm gonna expect it....
Well then, you better never fall asleep again, there go all those beawooty naps!
Mikki: Guess what? You have to sleep sometime too.
Yeah, but I sleep with mom & dad & they won't let you attack me in bed....

Mom: ENOUGH, girls! Now all your blogging friends know what it's like around here 24/7.....

Bama: Yeah, but you love us all so much you wouldn't trade one minute of it.
Mom: OK, I give. I'm not getting in the middle of this arguement, you little princesses will just have to work it out on your own.

Here's a pic of us arguing about who is queen, hey everyone, who do you think will win? (I'm already bigger than her, and not even 5 months old yet....)

Mom calls this picture "chin music", I call it "my teeth are bigger than your teeth"
We probably won't be able to post for about a week, mom's going to Mobile to visit Dad's parents so we're losing our typist
;(~
Talk to y'all when she gets home again:

Miss Mikki, True Queen of the Pack

Howwwrrrooo everyone! Mikki here, and about time I finally get a turn posting on our blog. That little upstart Bama has been making everyone think she's the queen of our pack, but I'm here to set the record straight! I am the most beautiful, most graceful, best hunter, and obviously queen of our pack. I guess it's because I'm so gentle and generally shy that she's been able to get away with the ruse for so long, but I was meant to be queen of this pack, that's why the humans picked me, for dogs sake! It took me a long time to enforce my rule over the boys, then along comes the monster, always in my face, chewing on me, and generally wreaking havoc in our nice quiet den. Here is a picture of me in my best royal pose, don't I look majestic?

Sorry about the red eyes, they are a beawootiful shade of blue in person.
Mom & Dad decided the boys needed a girl in the house to teach them some manners, so they chose me, and I came home in July of last year. Stupid Chili didn't know I was supposed to be his new queen, and I was so little, that he refused to be ruled! The nerve!! Cracker was on his best behaviour from the beginning, he fell in love with my beauty at first sight, but not Chili. The first time we stopped on our trip home, mom & dad put on my new harness and leash and took me out with the boys for our first walk together, and you wouldn't believe what he did. He peed on my head! No, really, I mean, the nerve!! He apologized later, and said he was just expressing his opinion to mom & dad about having to share his stuff with a new pup, but honestly, did he think that was going to win my affection??? Then when we got home and went out to check out our backyard, HE DID IT AGAIN! I was so upset, I prefer to be very ladylike and graceful, that's hard to do with boydog pee dripping off your head! Mom gave me a nice warm bath though, and I got to cuddle with her in a nice soft towel, and she told Chili he was a "BAD BOY", and he never did it again, so I guess he got the message that that was no way to treat a queen. Here's a picture of me on my very first day home.

Don't I look like a queen in training?
I'm really a very girly girl, and hate to be dirty, it took mom & dad a long time to convince me that I really didn't need to wash my feet every time I got a drink of water, here is a pic of me washing my tootsies:

Well, guess that's it for now, a queen should keep her speeches short so as not to lose the interest of her subjects, (a lesson that monster Bama will NEVER learn), besides, I need to go get my beauty sleep,

Cracker's Blue-eyed tale of woe

Howdy Y'all Woowoos,
Bout time the pack let me have a turn an' Ma is takin' my dictated woos! I didn't think I'd ever get my turn to tell a good story!
Furst I have to pick up where the Big Chill's story left off....After he'd been here about 8 months ma & pa decided to get into fostering rescue huskies cause they thought Chill needed a companion closer to his own age to play with. Their furst foster was a black and white male, about 1 year old named Shadow. He was a true Alpha boy, an came in fully intending to dominate the Chill from day one, beginning with constant attempts to mount him an show him who was the boy dog. Starr & Ice always had complete run of the den, and since they trained Chill, he was well-behaved enough to not have to be confined either. The second day the Shadow demon was here, ma came home from work and found that Chili had an accident in the house, and there was some blood and other ooky lookin goop that made her think that the Demon was a homosexual rapist husky, so she immediately called our rescue coordinator and told her that they really wanted to help out, but no way they were going to put up with Chili being abused in his own home. They made arrangements to trade him to a foster with no other pups, and they picked up Sheka. She was a beautiful black & white girl about 2 years old, an VERY sweet, an she and Chill became best friends. She was here fur about 6 weeks, then her new furever daddy an new brother came and got her and took her to her new furever home in Tampa. Chili was so sad an depressed for a couple of days that mom called the coordinator again, an begged for another foster to cheer him up. The next day they brought home Daisy. She was a black/silver & white 4 year old girl who loved people, giving kisses, an being a couch tater, but she was VERY jealous of anyone else gettin any attention. She seemed to respect Starr & Ice's age, but she wouldn't let Chili anywhere near ma & pa without trying to attack him. Ma had to break up a couple of fights, an got bit on the leg one time, then came the final straw....Daisy was in the bedroom with pa, an ma & Chill came into bed. As soon as ma came through the bedroom door, she saw Daisy laying there on the floor, so she put her hand down on Chili's chest to stop him so she could pick him up an put him on the bed an he wouldn't have to walk by Daisy. Well...just as she put her hand on his chest, Daisy lunged at his throat, an bit mas wrist pretty bad, she had problems for a while with her last 2 fingers on that hand going numb. Then next day she called the coordinator again, an told her that she didn't think it was going to work out with Daisy, but the lady got an attitude with mom, saying "well, I've been bit several times, it kind of goes with the territory", an she really made ma feel bad for not wanting to deal with constantly trying to break up fights or worrying about Chili. Daisy went to another foster, an Chili went into another lonely depression, an everyone felt just terrible. Ma & Pa talked about it an decided that they just needed to get Chili a puppy of his own, so he would have a BFFF (best fur friend furever), so that's how I came into the pitcher. Ma found a "breeder" in St. Augustine, just down the road aways, an on a rainy Friday, while pa was on his way to Mobile to go fishin with his Pa, she & Chili went to St. Aug to see if they could find him a new friend. I was the furst one she picked up out of the cage, then she checked out all the other pups from 2 litters, but she kept comin back to me. Me & all my sibs were skinny, and smelly, an we were in a crate with no tray in the bottom, sittin on top of a couple of plastic milk crates in the guys front yard, with a tarp over the top to keep the rain out. Ma said she was worried about the health of all of us, even though the guy did have health certificates, but she's a sucker for a purty face, and finally decided to bring me home. Chili really wasn't much interested in me at furst, but he said that's cause I smelled so bad. On the way home Chili rode shotgun, an I sat in ma's lap, an occupied myself by unbuttoning her blouse. After about the 4th time, she looked at me an said "you're just a little firecracker, aren't you", and presto, I had my new furever name, Chili's FireCrackerJack. When she called Pa that night and told him we had a new pack member named Cracker, he said maybe they should call me Jack, but when he got home and met me, he said Cracker fit me purfectly, so Cracker I am! (Get it? Chili & Cracker? heehee) Saturday morning she took us to the vet to get me checked out an started on my shots, an it turned out I had some kind of bad tummy bug that causes soupy poops. The vet said it's the same kind of bug that's in the water in 3rd wurld countries, an I got it from not having a clean water supply. It took a couple of months and lots of tummy medicines and special care with my diet, but they finally got me straightened out, now I'm the studliest husky ever! Just ask the gurls....
Here is one of my baby pitchers, see why ma fell in luv wif me? (don't know why that date is in the bottom of the pic, ma got me on Memorial Day weekend, 2005!)

Ma used to have a cute little mini-crockpot that she kept liquid potpourri in to make our den smell good, and one night about a week after I got here, Chili and me were wrestlin in the front room and I caught the cord and pulled the pot down on my head. Ma heard me squeal, and came runnin! Some of the smelly stuff had splashed in my right eye, and she grabbed the bottle which said if it gets in eyes to run water in the eye. Have any of your humans ever tried to hold a squealin squirmin husky pup under a runnin faucet? By the time she got done we were both crying, and the crockpot thingy was in the trash! Furst thing the next morning she took me into the vet, he said that the water might have saved my eye, but we'd just have to see. He put me on antibiotic pills & eyedrops to keep my pupil dilated, and I had ointment she had to put in for 10 days. My eye got really cloudy and filmy, and ma was feelin really guilty that her lack of fursight might have cost me MY sight in that eye, it stayed that way the whole 10 days I was on the medicine, then almost magically cleared up on the last day. Boy howdy, was ma relieved!! Here's a pitcher of me wif my bad eye:

A few days after that happened we went to Chicago to visit ma & pa's best friends, Hannah & Brownie, and their 4 legged furmaster, Sheba. That trip was lots of fun even with my bad eye, but for ma & pa it got worse before it got better. We were in the car on the way up there, when she noticed that it looked like Chili had sumthin in his eye. She had to wrestle with him, but finally got a good look and it looked like he had a piece of wood in his eye, but it didn't move when he blinked or anything! She called her friend Hannah, and asked her if she'd make an appointment with Sheba's vet for the next day when we got in. They were really nice, and said "bring him in as soon as they get into town", so the furst day of our vacation I got to stay home with Pa & Brownie, and play lots of fun games in the yard with Sheba, while Chill went to the doc. Well...after they looked at his eye, they decided that whatever the fureign object was it seemed to be embedded in his cornea and they didn't want to try to get it out, so they sent ma & Chill to an emergency hospital for furballs. They had to give him a shot to make him sleep so they could get it out, and said it looked like a piece of redwood mulch or somethin. Now we're both on antibiotics, drops to dilate our pupils, and ointment, an ma's whole furst day of vacation was spent with furball docs, they didn't get home until almost midnight! Poor ma, she loves our blue eyes so much, and here she's gotta worry about both of us losin the vision in one of our eyes! We were both fine, and didn't let the eye injuries slow us down a bit, but ma said she worried enough fur all of us. You can tell from this pitcher that both of our eyes turned out fine:

Guess I'll go fur now, see if I can look cute an convince her I need some treats, but next time I'll tell y'all the tail of mine & Chili's escape escapades and my Christmas shopping trip.
